We write from a firm which, according to Mr Craig Holt, the chief executive of QualitySolicitors, is clearly less profitable, less efficient and about to be squeezed out of the market by his company.

We have no doubt that Mr Holt knows his own business, but he clearly does not know our firm, which we can assure him is perfectly efficient and profitable.

His company has sought our membership, but we decided very early on, like many of our colleague firms, that QS was not the route for us. First, as ladies in our forties, when we think QS we think Quality Seconds, a high street chain selling clothing. More importantly, we are very proud of our branding, profitability and efficiency which we are able to provide to our clients without any compromise to our service and identity.

In almost every press release we have read QS hangs the success of its business on the marketing campaign. We wonder whether Mr Holt took advice from his marketing department before believing that the way to entice potential firms to join QS was to trash their efficiency and profitability.

Finally, given the extensive coverage that we believe the Gazette has given to Mr Holt, it will be interesting to discover whether this letter makes the next edition.
