A new provider has entered the professional indemnity insurance market with less than a month to go until the renewal deadline.

Lloyd’s of London broker Bar Professions has secured a new insurer that will look to cover firms of between one and 25 partners of any size, income or area of work.

High Street firms with good claims records are the main target market, but there is also capacity to cater for start-up practices and firms in the Assigned Risks Pool.

Apro Management Ltd, which will underwrite on behalf of Iceland-based European Risk Insurance Company, is supplying quotations exclusively to Bar Professions.

Wayne Redgrave, director at Bar Professions, said: ‘I have worked closely with hundreds of solicitors firms since the closure of SIF and year-on-year the conditions become increasingly difficult for many to secure affordable professional liability insurance.

‘This new capacity will provide solutions for solicitors who we know will find this year’s insurance renewal season once again very challenging.

‘Our dedicated team at Bar Professions have significant knowledge and expertise in this marketplace, and a good understanding of the issues and requirements of solicitor firms.’

The new insurer promises to provide formal quotes to clients within 48 hours of any fully completed proposal form.
