Landlord and tenant solicitors can become affiliated to the National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS), following an agreement with the Law Society announced this week.

NALS represents landlords and consumers, and provides a scheme to accredit estate agents, to help ensure its members go to reputable companies. Solicitors working in landlord and tenant law will now also be able to apply to use the NALS quality mark.

NALS chair Caroline Pickering said: ‘By welcoming the Law Society as a NALS affiliated body, we are recognising the regulation compliance that [its] members must undertake, and this enables them to [fulfil] NALS criteria.’

Meanwhile, the Society named the first firms to be accredited under its Coveyancing Quality Scheme last week. Over 400 firms have applied since applications opened in January
