Two men have been jailed for life for the murder of a Sheffield solicitor and father of two young children. Khuram Javed, 31, was killed near Bramall Lane in Sheffield in April 2021 after spending the evening socialising with friends.
He was lured out onto a narrow footpath by Samsul Mohamed and Tinashe Kampira. Once in these confined surroundings, Mohamed produced a handgun and fired eight shots, hitting Javed with three of them and fatally injuring him.
At Sheffield Crown Court yesterday, Mohamed was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 32 years. Kampira will serve a minimum of 26 years.
Mohamed’s two brothers Sohidul Mohamed and Saydul Mohamed were both sentenced to three and a half years for assisting an offender.
The court heard that the attackers fled the scene in a taxi, and the two brothers transported Samsul Mohamed to a safe house in Reading away from the police investigation.
Ed Hulbert, specialist prosecutor from the CPS said: ‘Khuran Javed was a much-loved husband and father of two young children. He was murdered in cold blood, gunned down in front of his friends after an evening of socialising. This was a brutal crime which has shocked the local community and left his family devastated. His murderers are now facing life in prison. Our thoughts remain with his widow and young children.’
Javed had joined Alison Law as a paralegal but secured a training contract and had been a practising solicitor for 18 months.
