US firm Mayer Brown International was recognised for its work with pro bono group LawWorks at the charity’s annual awards ceremony last night.
The firm won the award for the best contribution by a law firm, for supporting numerous projects including providing pro bono assistance through community groups, individual casework and mediation projects, and advising every week at Islington Law Centre.
Bobby Kensah, a trainee at international firm Norton Rose, won the best individual contribution category for his work with the Tooting Legal Advice Centre and undertaking pro bono cases for LawWorks.
City firm Clifford Chance won the award for best partner-level engagement. Other awards went to north-east firm Muckle; the in-house team at Vodafone; and solicitor Caroline Mayne.
The award for partnership in pro bono work went to regional firms Eversheds, Wragge & Co, Hammonds, and DLA Piper, for their work with students from Birmingham’s College of Law providing advice through the Birmingham Legal Advice Centre.
