Michael Smyth, a partner at Clifford Chance, has been awarded a CBE for services to pro bono legal work in the Queen’s birthday honours list. A partner since 1990, Smyth is an author of Business and Human Rights Act (2000) and chairman of Public Concern at Work, the whistleblowing charity.
Other recipients of CBEs on the list include the chairman of the sentencing advisory panel, Professor Andrew Ashworth, for his services to the administration of justice. The former chairman of the criminal cases review commission, Professor Graham John Zellick, also receives a CBE for services to the administration of justice.
Christine Stewart, former director of the criminal law and sentencing policy at the Ministry of Justice, receives a CBE.
Richard Collins, former executive director for policy at the Legal Services Commission, receives an OBE for his services to the administration of justice.
