The Queen’s solicitor and the former terror laws watchdog were among the lawyers recognised in the New Year honours list. Mark Bridges, partner at London firm Farrer & Co, was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order for his work as personal solicitor to the Queen.

Barrister Lord Carlile QC (pictured), former independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, received a CBE for services to national security. Solicitor and chief Crown prosecutor in the eastern region, Kenneth Caley, also received a CBE.

Others honoured in connection with the legal profession included the former president of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, Anthony Isaacs, and barrister Hugh Davies, legal adviser to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, who received an OBE.
