Conveyancers will be allowed to use different versions of the TA6 property information form for longer than originally timetabled, the Law Society has announced, as it continues to work through feedback on the latest edition.

The TA6 form was updated to support National Trading Standards guidance on ‘material information’ required for property listings. However, with the guidance dividing opinion, the Society paused compulsory use of the latest version in order to engage with members. Until 15 January 2025, conveyancers could use the latest version or the one before.

Some 1,232 people signed up to participate in the consultation, which has included a survey, in-depth interviews, research-led group discussions, deep dive online webinars, workshops and roundtables.

Society chief executive Ian Jeffery said: ‘I would like to thank our members for engaging so positively with this extensive consultation. We are now working through the volumes of feedback we have collected during this process and want to give it all thorough consideration.

‘It has become clear that January next year is not a realistic date by which to analyse all the evidence and take the next steps to ensure we have the best outcome possible. We have therefore decided to extend the period that both forms can be used until we have completed that work.’

A further update will be issued in the new year. The Society said accredited Conveyancing Quality Scheme members will continue to be compliant if they use the TA6 (4th edition, second revision) (2020) or TA6 (fifth edition, 2024).
