A north west firm freshly backed with private equity finance has continued its expansion with a move into Yorkshire. Fletchers Group has acquired 100% of the share capital of Minton Morrill, a medical negligence and Court of Protection practice based in Leeds. The acquisition is effective immediately and the fee was undisclosed.
Minton Morrill will keep its name and use the investment into the business to expand its clinical negligence practice nationwide. All members of the nine-strong team, including directors Simon Minton, Julia Morrill and Sahida Patel, will remain with the business under new ownership.
Fletchers was bought by US equity investment firm Sun Capital in October last year and has already acquired national cycle claims practice Cycle SOS.
Peter Haden, chief executive of Fletchers, said: ‘The combination of talent at Minton Morrill and Fletchers will give all our existing and potential clients across the UK a high calibre team of legal professionals working on their behalf.
‘We have made clear our intention to acquire businesses which fit our strategy and enhance our pool of talent in medical negligence, and Minton Morrill is a perfect fit for us in this respect, as well as giving Fletchers a long awaited presence in Leeds, an area known for its legal talent.’
He added that the group remains keen to talk to owners looking for a buyer either to retire or to grow their business as part of a larger entity.
‘Sun Capital continues to be supportive of our growth aspirations and is focused on helping us invest to build scale and capability,’ said Haden. ‘Our pipeline is strong and I’m confident that we will bring more deals to completion over the next few months.’
Established in 1987, Fletchers Group is one of the largest medical negligence and personal injury practices in the UK. It employs more than 500 people.
