The former director of the Serious Fraud Office has joined Cohen & Gresser as a partner in the international firm’s white collar defence and regulation practice group in London.
Sir David Green QC served as SFO director between 2012 and 2018 and oversaw the first deferred prosecution agreements in the UK and the first convictions under the Bribery Act 2010. He left magic circle firm Slaughter and May, where he was a senior consultant, in October.
Green joins former SFO investigator John Gibson and Richard Kovalevsky QC at Cohen & Gresser to create what the firm says will be ‘one of London’s most experienced white collar defence and regulation practices’.
His recruitment is said to be part of Cohen & Gresser’s ‘strategic expansion of its global capabilities’, which will benefit from Green’s ‘understanding of cross-border collaboration between international agencies’ from his time at the SFO.
‘I am looking forward to partnering with the firm’s talented group of lawyers and working with clients on key investigations and enforcement matters,’ Green said in a statement.
Cohen & Gresser’s global managing partner Lawrence Gresser said that ‘Sir David’s strategic guidance and first-hand knowledge and insight from working with the world’s leading regulatory and enforcement agencies will be an excellent asset for our clients’.
Jeffrey Bronheim, managing partner of the firm’s London office, added: ‘His experience in both private practice and government at the highest levels will provide invaluable support and insight to our clients.’
