A deputy district judge has been issued with formal advice for misconduct after he was found to have acted in a ‘rude and aggressive manner’ during two different hearings.
The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office received two complaints about deputy district judge Adam Tear’s conduct during separate hearings.
Following an investigation, Tear was found to have acted ‘in a rude and aggressive manner during both hearings’.
A spokesperson for the JCIO said: ‘Judges are required to be courteous, tolerant and respect the dignity of all. Having considered the mitigation offered by DDJ Tear, the lord chief justice and lord chancellor agreed with the nominated judge that DDJ Tear’s actions amounted to judicial misconduct and that the appropriate disciplinary sanction is formal advice.’
