Two lawyers were among those knighted in the Queen’s birthday honours list announced at the weekend, while the judge behind the pioneering Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) received a CBE.

Former deputy High Court judge Clive Callman received a knighthood, chief executive of the Crown Prosecution Service, solicitor Peter Lewis, was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath and the head of the Government Legal Service, Paul Jenkins, was made a Knight of the Bath.

District judge Nicholas Crichton, who has dedicated himself to the welfare of children and families who are involved in the family justice system, and who set up the FDAC in London, was given the CBE.

CBEs also went to Kevin McGinty, deputy director general and director of criminal law at the Attorney General’s Office; Jane Furniss, chief executive of the Independent Police Complaints Commission; and Ministry of Justice civil servants Paul Carroll and Catherine Lee.

Helen Edwards, director general at the justice policy group at the Ministry of Justice received the Order of the Bath, and Tom Murray, director of legal services and applications at the Scottish legal aid board, received an OBE.

Lady Lucy Neville-Rolfe, deputy chair of the British Retail Consortium and executive director for corporate and legal affairs at Tesco, was made a dame for services to industry and voluntary service.
