The Law Society’s chief executive gave an update on the progress of the Quality Conveyancing Scheme at the property section’s annual conference last week.

Since registration for the scheme launched in January, Desmond Hudson said 913 firms have applied for the quality mark.

Of those, 139 firms have been admitted so far, while four applications have been rejected.

Chancery Lane has placed adverts for the quality assurance mark on various home moving and conveyancing related websites and the Google search engine.

Hudson said that in the first two weeks of the adverts going live, 500 people had sought more information on the scheme, and 20 enquiries had been placed with CQS member firms.

He said they hoped to get a billion viewings of the adverts and generate many leads for CQS members.

Looking to the future, Hudson said CQS could be used to promote the member firms, with a national referral network and by using initiatives like TripAdvisor, the travel website that allows tourists to rate their holidays.
