The Law Society has appointed a former adviser to the prime minister to the new role of chief of corporate affairs.

Dr Patricia Greer will have responsibility for policy, communications and engaging with solicitors, reporting to chief executive Desmond Hudson. Greer will join in March from the National School of Government where she is strategic director for client relations and director of delivery.

Her experience includes a range of senior private and public sector positions, including four years as the deputy director of the prime minister’s Strategy Unit and 10 years with leading management consultancies, including KPMG and PA Consulting.

Greer said: ‘There are many challenges and opportunities facing the legal profession. I am looking forward to joining the Law Society as it works to equip its members to adapt to the changing market environment.’

Hudson, who overhauled the Law Society’s senior management structure last year, added: 'I am looking forward to Patricia joining the team, as we look to cement our position as the leading representative of the world’s best legal profession. Her experience and abilities will strengthen the team and further equip us to anticipate and meet our members’ needs.’
