US-based international firm Goodwin Procter has joined other City firms by announcing a big increase in the salary for newly qualified solicitors.
Annual NQ salaries have risen from £160,000 to £175,000, a rise of just over 9%. The new salary, which makes Goodwin Procter one of the top paying firms in London, will take effect from 1 June.
Trainee salaries have also been revised. From 1 September, year one trainees will receive £52,000 to £55,000 and year two £57,000 to £60,000.
The news follows a spate of salary increase announcements from City firms. Most recently, A&O announced its pay rates for NQs (£150,000) and juniors, matching Clifford Chance, Freshfields and Linklaters.
Gibson Dunn NQs boast the highest salaries in the capital at £180,000.
