Stephens Scown LLP has appointed mental health law specialist Mostyn Evans as a partner.

Mostyn, formerly with Cornish Venning joins the family law team serving clients nationally. He has nearly 30 years of experience within mental health law, is a long-time member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel and has previously sat on the Children Panel and the Personal Injury Panel.

The appointment of Mostyn Evans strengthens the family law team within Stephens Scown and underlines the firm’s commitment to dealing with not only mental health issues, but also domestic violence and the devastating effects these have on individuals and all those surrounding them.

Robert Camp, managing partner of Stephens Scown, said: ‘We are very pleased to have Mostyn join the firm, bringing with him his in-depth experience in such an important area of law. Our intention has always been to aid and assist all members of the community, both through our daily work and voluntary commitments and having such a specialist on board supports and encourages all of us to continue with our efforts.’

Mostyn Evans commented: ‘The south-west has very few mental health legal practitioners and I am delighted to join Stephens Scown, which is recognised as one of the best law firms in the region. Many of my clients require additional legal specialisms, which is where the wide reaching expertise of my new colleagues can be put to great use.’
