Firm hires and promotions featured on the Gazette’s Movers page this week

In a high-profile promotion at Brown Rudnick LLP, William R. Baldiga has been made chief executive officer and chairman of the firm’s management committee. Baldiga, who started out as a summer associate at the firm in 1982, will continue to represent public and private companies and committees of creditors and shareholders in major restructuring cases.

Elsewhere, founder of charity Inside Justice Louise Shorter has joined the University of East Anglia’s law school as director of the Justice Project. The Justice Project assists individuals who maintain their innocence of serious crimes for which they have been convicted. Shorter will be working with law students to investigate cases of long-term prisoners who claim to be the victims of miscarriages of justice.

And moving on from the legal profession entirely, former City lawyer Jennifer Ison has received an entrepreneur award for her petite clothing business after branching out into womenswear following a career in law spanning 20 years. Fed up of the lack of smart clothes available for smaller women during her time as a lawyer, Ison started the brand Jennifer Anne.
