Patel, based in London, has over a decade of experience in judicial review challenges, human rights, anti-discrimination, and trafficking cases. In her new role, she will lead a team dedicated to upholding the rule of law, challenging government policies, and advocating for vulnerable clients during pivotal moments in their lives.

Patel commented: 'I am passionate about giving a voice to those most vulnerable in our society at what is often one of the most difficult times of their lives. Simpson Millar’s commitment to championing the rights of individuals aligns perfectly with my ethos, and I am delighted to join such a highly regarded team in the Public Law sector.'

Joining Patel is public law and human rights solicitor Charlotte Andrews, who specialises in judicial reviews, challenges against public authorities, and human rights cases, as well as representing clients at inquests.

The division’s expansion also includes the appointment of Karen Sullivan as a senior paralegal in the Court of Protection Property and Affairs team, and paralegal Issy Masterson in the health and welfare team, both based in Manchester.

In Leeds, the health and welfare team has welcomed trainee Alice Nortcliffe. Melissa Crawford has joined the firm’s national education law team as a paralegal.
