Global law firm Kennedys has appointed partner Catherine Shuttleworth to spearhead a new professional liability hub in Leeds.
Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Shuttleworth has acted for businesses and professionals accused of negligence. They include accountants, solicitors, surveyors, insurers, insurance intermediaries and insolvency practitioners.
She has relocated from London to Leeds after 20 years with the firm, and will join senior associate Mark Cordingley, a construction specialist in Kennedys’ existing professional liability team.
New hires Robert Blair and Jordan Leech, both associates, join the team from DWF.
Kennedys has one of the largest professional liability teams in the industry, with more than 180 specialists across its global network. Clients include insurers for global law firms, large accounting firms and construction, engineering and surveying companies.
Shuttleworth commented: 'Leeds has always had a strong insurance presence but recently there is a real buzz in the city, with several insurers, including some of our existing clients appreciating the benefits of having a strong presence in the north through expanding their existing teams and opening new hubs in the city.'
'The expansion of the Leeds office further demonstrates our commitment to growing Kennedys’ presence in the north. There’s real potential for growth which is exciting and it’s also something of a homecoming for me to return to the city where I started my career. When the opportunity came up, I couldn’t say no.'
