Charities and private wealth specialist Martin Woodward has joined Veale Wasbrough Vizards as a consultant.

Martin is a charities and private wealth lawyer for educational bodies, religious institutions and grant-making charities. He will be based at the Birmingham office.

Martin’s career spans some 44 years. As well as acting as a trustee of various charities including Lench’s Trust, Westhill Endowment and The King Edward’s School Birmingham Trust, he was responsible for setting up the charities department at law firm Lee Crowder, and then subsequently Cobbetts.

Work for the Charity Commission is also a highlight in Martin’s CV, where he was appointed as receiver and manager of 14 charities that had run into difficulty.

Simon Heald, VWV managing partner, said: ‘Martin’s arrival signals our further investment in, and commitment to, the charities sector. We announced the arrival of six charity lawyers to our Birmingham office in September 2013 and this is another step forward to growing this important area of the firm.’
