Manchester and Liverpool commercial law firm Bermans has welcomed employment partner Sarah Collier and litigation specialist Sarah Wellicome.
Collier, who will be based in Berman's Manchester office, joins from KBL Solicitors. She brings over 15 years’ experience in supporting SMEs with day-to-day employment advice ranging from redundancies, disciplinaries and grievances, as well as advising and supporting businesses on discrimination and sexual harassment matters, shareholder disputes, settlement agreements and in-house training.
Wellicome, also based in the firm’s Manchester office, joins from Priority Law. She will head the firm’s invoice and asset finance litigation team following the retirement of partner Andrew Henderson after 39 years with the firm. Wellicome previously headed up a busy litigation team dealing with property litigation on a range of high value and complex disputes for secured lenders and receivers in the High Court and through mediation and ADR.
The firm also recently added Charlotte Mills as a partner in its corporate team from sister law firm Jackson Lees. These latest appointments take the number of partners at the firm to 20.
Jon Davage, managing director of Bermans, commented: 'I am delighted to welcome a further two lawyers who are so well-established within their fields. Our litigation work is thriving, so Sarah Wellicome’s arrival will further drive growth within this nationally renowned team.
'Further, the planned changes to employment legislation by the new Labour government will be an ideal opportunity for Sarah Collier to contribute to the growth of the employment team and add real value to our active client base.
'Across both of our offices in Liverpool and Manchester we are seeing growth and momentum build as we actively look to add new lawyers to our team over the course of the year.'
Since 2022, Bermans has been part of the Making a Positive Difference (MAPD) group. The group was founded by CEO Brian Cullen and COO Joanna Kingston-Davies in 2020 to power the growth of local law firms nationally through acquisition. The group now has nine brands.
