City law firm Lewis Silkin has announced the appointment of media and entertainment expert J Alan Davis as a consultant to its renowned media, brands and technology team.

Alan has significant international legal and commercial experience in areas including film, theatre, television, digital, music (including music for film, television and theatre), intellectual property and rights protection and exploitation.

Alan was admitted to the California Bar in 1988 and first recruited to the international M&A team of O’Melveny & Myers (Los Angeles). He then joined Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman (Beverly Hills) acting for major studio, talent and financier clients before establishing his own entertainment firm, where he acted as a producer’s rep for indie films, a manager for media rights-holders, and a producer of classical records.

Recruited by a former client, Alan then moved in-house as head of business affairs for Warner Bros. International Television Production. He returned to England in 2008 and was admitted as a solicitor.

Alan said: ‘I have worked with several members of the Lewis Silkin team in the past and am very pleased to join a group of individuals who are not only highly qualified and professional, but also convivial and pleasant to work with.’
