London law firm Hodge Jones & Allen has appointed clinical negligence partner, James Bell, from Slater & Gordon, where he was head of the London clinical negligence practice.

James has over 20 years’ experience working across a wide range of clinical negligence cases and is considered a leader in his field. He has particular expertise in high value complex cases including those involving brain haemorrhage, delayed diagnosis of cancer, cerebral palsy, spinal injuries and amputation.

James had been a partner at Slater and Gordon since 2008 and prior to that worked at London firm, Christian Khan. He has worked on a number of cases involving multiple claimants including an action brought by those affected by the use of De Puy’s unsafe hip implants.

Hodge Jones & Allen’s clinical negligence team, headed by partner Agata Usewicz, now comprises six partners and nine solicitors and paralegals, many of whom joined the practice from the medical profession.

Agata Usewicz says: ’James has a leading reputation and will be a significant asset to Hodge Jones & Allen’s growing clinical negligence team. We continue to take on complex cases, advising on a range of maximum severity claims as well as complex moderate value cases involving still births, fatalities, those with mental health issues, the elderly and disabled. James brings considerable experience in this area and I am delighted to be welcoming him to the team.’

Commenting on his appointment James Bell said: ’I am delighted to be joining Hodge Jones & Allen. The firm has an impeccable reputation for providing high quality legal services to those injured by medical errors. I very much look forward to working with such a well-respected clinical negligence team and playing my part in its future work and development.’
