Kate Thornton joins the growing Bingley office at AWB Charlesworth Solicitors as private client solicitor- taking the wills, trust and probate department to eight lawyers across the four sites (Skipton, Keighley, Bradford and Bingley).
Kate has over ten years of experience at city firms, specializing in wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney, estate planning and in particular the administration of estates.
Her legal career began as a secretary in a law firm, before quickly moving to a paralegal role. Kate then received sponsorship to complete a law conversion course at Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett) whilst simultaneously working part-time in a training contract. She qualified shortly after completing her PG Dip Legal Practice.
Kate described her move to AWBC as an exciting career challenge: ’After over nine years in the city centre, I am very much looking forward to becoming part of AWB, working in a different environment and geographical location, getting to know new clients and their families.’
Liam O’Neill, head of Private Client said of Kate joining the team: ’I’m delighted that a solicitor with Kate’s knowledge and experience has joined the practice. Her appointment will be of real benefit to the firm’s clients, especially our clients who use the Bingley office where Kate will be based. The rest of the private client team are very much looking forward to working with her.’
