I should be interested to know what response the Law Society is making to the proposal from the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills to consult on introducing a Land Registry service delivery company. The consultation period ends on 20 March.

I have not noticed any publicity about the proposal to split the Land Registry’s functions. As far as I can see, it amounts to a partial privatisation.

Personally, I have found the Land Registry to be efficient and helpful. I cannot see what will be gained (perhaps apart from revenue, which is not always guaranteed) by bringing in a private company.

What do practitioners think?
