I noted the article (‘Green light for solicitors to freelance’, Gazette, 18 June) pointing out that ‘new rules coming into force in December will oblige firms to publish prices for conveyancing…’.

My firm does not have a website and neither does it intend to do so, as we have never advertised (we are proud of this fact) and we enjoy 90%-plus repeat business.

We have no intention of creating a website, especially for the purpose of publishing our prices and we doubt very much indeed that the Solicitors Regulation Authority can force us to do so.

If it does try, then I am sure there is something in European legislation, let alone the Human Rights Act, of which we can avail ourselves so as to thwart them.
