I note with sardonic interest the proposal that, in the interests of diversity, a degree should cease to be necessary for entry to the profession at the same time as the police, in the interests of professionalism, are considering making a degree a prerequisite to joining the force.
When will there be a return to protecting the interests of the public we serve, rather than easing the path of aspirants to the profession at any cost?
