I have just chased a large firm in Southampton for a completion statement for something that completes within the next couple of weeks.
I was told that they cannot send out a statement until the deposit cheque has cleared – in four days’ time. This is a solicitor’s client account cheque and I am asking for a completion statement, a normal part of the conveyancing process. I am not asking them to send me money.
When did common sense disappear – is it because large back room offices have to justify their existence? We are a very small firm but we do know the client account rules. Isn’t it all rather insulting?
