The lord chief justice Lord Thomas said ‘really difficult constitutional issues’ arose in the case of Erol Incedal who was tried for terrorism in a partly secret trial.
News organisations, including Guardian News and Media, Time Newspapers, Associated Newspapers and Sky, appealed against a ruling that journalists allowed into the semi-secret portion of the trial should not have their notes returned to them or be allowed to report what they heard.
The appeal was adjourned until October at the earliest to allow further documents to be produced and arguments to be prepared.
