Recently a solicitor didn’t want to exchange with a colleague of mine because she’s not a ‘solicitor’. They insisted on speaking to me, to which I also thought I best clarify that 'I’m not a solicitor either'. We did exchange contracts.
The message - just because someone does not have that piece of paper that says they are a solicitor does not mean they are not capable of doing their job or any less able because they do not have that title.
There are lots of paths into law, and I know many many fabulous people in this industry who are not 'qualified' but do an amazing job. Those who have (through hard work, dedication and determination) made it and stuck it out despite all the challenges we face.
Please do not judge someone who may not have taken the path into their job that tradition suggests they should have. That is by no means taking away anything from those who have worked extremely hard and who are qualified. Respect all in this industry, it’s a tough thankless job sometimes, and we have to work together.
