A husband and wife from Hertfordshire firm Pictons proved they are gluttons for punishment last week at Harpenden’s annual Highland Gathering.

Sukh Saini (pictured), a partner in the firm’s family department, and his wife Deborah, an associate in the personal injury team, put themselves in the stocks to be pelted with soggy sponges by an enthusiastic crowd.

They bought the stocks on eBay and set them up next to the firm’s stand to raise money for the local hospice and the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Fortunately for the Sainis, the fair was held on a hot day, so they were pleased to report that they dried off quickly. But their colleagues should be warned - the stocks are being kept at the firm’s head office in Luton, so presumably any unfortunate solicitors who fail to meet their billing targets may be next in line for a soaking.
