The solicitors’ profession could have a glamorous new entrant in a few years, after law student Rissikat Bade (pictured), the current Miss London, revealed that she plans to become a lawyer.

Bade just missed out on the Miss England title last month, in what she stressed is a competition that is about brains as well as beauty. But it turns out that the law (which she is studying at South Bank University) was not her first career choice. She actually wanted to be a model.

She is quoted as saying: ‘I’ve approached about 100 different modelling agencies, from the top agencies down to the mediocre ones. Even the worst agencies still rejected me. I was so disappointed and so upset. I kept on thinking "what is wrong with me?"

‘In the end I thought "that’s it, I’ll just be a lawyer. It doesn’t matter."’

Not what you’d call the most enthusiastic start, but given the potential publicity boost for any firm that takes her on, Obiter doubts Ms Bade will have too much difficulty finding a training contract – unlike many.
