Killing time on Twitter last week, Obiter was amused by a thread of tweets under the hash tag ‘solicitormovies’.

Twits, twitterers, the legal twitteratti, or whatever the appropriate term is, have posted film titles incorporating the names of law firms.

US firm Jones Day seemed to prompt the highest number of spoofs, including The remains of the Jones Day, Independence Jones Day, and Bridget Jones Day’s Diary.

Other would-be blockbusters were a City firm take on a Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie action comedy – Mr & Mrs Herbert Smith; and Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn in Bird & Bird on a Wire. But Obiter’s personal favourites were the twist on a 1970s Michael Caine crime movie, Get Carter-Ruck, and Mishcon-geniality, which sounds like a version in which Sean Connery replaces Sandra Bullock as the undercover FBI agent at the Miss United States beauty pageant.
