Obiter was rewarded for attendance at the Bar Council’s annual conference last weekend, not just by getting to spend a Saturday in the company of around 600 barristers, but with a novel conference freebie in the form of a squeezy judge.

Inner Temple was giving away the quirky stress relief aids - causing much debate during the day over whom Mr Justice Squeezy most resembles (in appearance, not squeeziness).

It is with trepidation that we report that some barristers claimed to see a passing resemblance to a High Court judge, Mr Justice Eady. However, a hint of moustache made others think of former Court of Appeal judge Lord Justice Chadwick. The smart money however, was on his distinguished Court of Appeal colleague Lord Justice Laws.

Inner Temple, no doubt with an eye to the defamation and contempt of court acts, was giving nothing away. Obiter will leave readers to decide.
