International firm DAC Beachcroft has confirmed plans to close one of its Manchester offices, putting 65 people at risk of redundancy.

The firm has said it is planning to vacate the current Fountain Street premises, which houses its claims validation team. Other jobs in England and Scotland in this department could also be under threat.

A spokesman for DAC Beachcroft said today the proposed move is driven by ‘market conditions and demands for increased efficiencies and consistency of customer processes’. The firm’s Hardman Street office in Manchester is unaffected. The firm will also review all claims solutions group administration roles.

‘We appreciated this will be a difficult and uncertain period for affected staff and we intend to provide as much support and guidance as possible at this time,’ added the spokesman.

At one stage, the claims solutions group comprised 36 partners and 600 fee-earners.

As recently as November 2012, the firm was expanding this department with an extra 120 staff members as part of an office opening in Birmingham.

The insurance law specialist employs more than 2,300 people across the world and took on its current form in 2011 when Beachcroft merged with Davies Arnold Cooper.
